I recommend the therapy also.
I think both therapy and the PhD are a great idea.
But I think there is a real desire to understand.
I had a real desire to understand something intellectually.
Yeah.
And how this system works.
Like, if you'll indulge me, I had this moment where, I don't know if you've ever organized a funeral.
Not, no, but I've been part of an icing of fun.
So often the funeral attendant will come to your home and they'll sit out and they'll say, you know, what would you like?
And they pulled out this like, back in the day, it was like a printed catalogue of all of the different coffins, right?
And it was like, you can have the mahogany or here's the oak or here's the like, and you know, the further you go, the cheaper they get.
Like they hide the cheap ones.
But also I remember all of these coffins had these like,
terrible naff names, like they were like paint colors, it was like, you know, Midnight Dance, or like, you know, Romantic Blur, and it was like... But it was just this moment of complete disconnect where I was like, this has nothing to do with my dad, or who he was.
And then I was just like, who designed this?
Who built this system of death and dying and funerals that I had been thrust into?
And it was, I suppose, the kind of anger or frustration at that system that made me go, okay, I want to work out how it works.
Yeah.
Harshly because I wanted to change it.
But also because I just couldn't understand how that's, how we had collectively decided to do death.
