And I think that was the thing that made me want to be independent my whole life.

So going through a divorce at that young age left such a big impact on me.

And it took me a long time to get over.

I took a semester off at college and was like this sudden realization like, hey, girl, you got to make it on your own.

So I graduated.

I got a job.

I bought a car.

Of course, my father had to co-sign in those days.

It was like 1974 and got on my way.

We built the family on love.

And I quit my teaching job for two years because I wanted to establish myself as their mother, that they were my sole purpose in life.

I would go and I would work in the library at their school.

And Jay, they were so cute.

Like, they were so proud of me.

They would say, my mom's here today and she's working in the library.
