So several thousand caregivers around the world that we tend to ask them about those micro moments of caregiving.
And when my team came up with the idea, I did not want to do it.
I said, really, guys?
These people are busy, they're stressed, and you want to hammer them with focus groups, surveys, whatever?
One of the things that we learned
the caregivers wanted to participate.
Because here's a question no one ever asks the caregiver.
How are you doing?
Not just the loved one that they're caring for, but how are you doing?
And so that little study that's ongoing, asking people not just what you're doing, but how you're doing.
So one of the things to think about is make sure that you're asking how they're doing and helping them care for themselves.
Because the cost, as I mentioned, is the physical.
Do you know that caregivers are more likely to express fatigue?
Headache and like emotionally, depression, feeling alone and financial.
And this is the really hard work that we've been doing with the financial services industry.
Women are more likely to either step out of a job entirely because they're having to care for a loved one full time.
or not take a promotion because the promotion may have travel and I've got to make sure I take care of mom overall, or because of the financial cost of caregiving, even if that loved one has finances, is going to set her back.
So women effectively have a triple threat.
They're caring for others.
They're jeopardizing their own finances, which means that by the time the third, they get to their own old age, they are not prepared for their own old age.
