They're going to they predict that they're not good enough or as good as others.
others.
So we do a lot of work.
Exploring those core beliefs and really getting down to the data and the evidence about that and pulling apart and saying, well, this is the ADHD, but w let's look at these other areas of your life where you've been very successful, even despite the ADHD causing these issues.
Um, and then we really start to pull apart some of those other comor comorbid mental health issues.
It's very rare for me to see an adult with ADHD that does not have some sort of anxiety.
anxiety, depression if that ADHD w has gone untreated for for a long time.
And that's for those reasons that I just specified.
Um, you know, there's anticipation that I'm gonna get in trouble at work or I'm feeling hopeless that I'm not gonna be able to advance or do well in this area.
Um, and so we start to use cognitive behavioral therapy to explore those aspects and start to build a plan so we can uh help that person achieve their goals.
Um and then when it comes to kids, it's a lot of the same.
Um, you know, I think uh I always so I I am a school psychologist by training uh and then began working with adults uh later on in my career.
Um, but the complicated layer to kids is that, you know, a lot of times when we're working with young kids, we're also having to provide executive structure for the those kids as well.
So setting up routines and systems that work, uh, using reinforcements, kind of all of those things on top of those things that, you know, I kind of discussed for adults.
It's more difficult for kids to implement some of those executive functioning strategies on their own.
And that's why parents are such an important parents and teachers are such an important partner within that.
For adults, it can be sometimes complicated because I don't have anyone to kind of check in and say, like, are you remembering to do these things?
But we problem solve those issues.
You know, a lot of times we're spent, you know, in session.
It's did we how did we do with implementing this strategy this week?
