I think when we follow the money and consider the motivations of people who may be making their livelihoods on what adoption is and how it works in our country, we'll maybe uncover where the story has been told in a certain way on purpose.
And again, maybe not with nefarious intent, but because there's natural bias toward, well, if this is your livelihood, you'd like that to continue.
So how can we preserve the way things are, preserve the status quo so that the industry continues?
Because
yes, we all have to make a paycheck under capitalism, but at what cost?
And yeah, it's incredible to me also how far behind we are from other countries and what the reaction was when some countries closed international adoptions with the U.S.
in particular.
I feel like that should have sent a message and maybe the wrong message was received because I heard a lot of chatter lamenting that that had happened and obviously complexity across the board, right?
But maybe it was a good thing that
children aren't being brought to another country to grow up in a culture that's not theirs.
I don't know.
We got a long way to go.
Yeah, and there is so much other overlap too.
The money being exchanged for humans is just a small part of it.
I have a really cool concept map I made in a class when I was learning about what trafficking was.
where I had listed all the different risk factors that I learned about for someone to be victimized by human trafficking.
And I focused specifically for me, it was on it was on commercial sex, but also for labor trafficking to a lot of the risk factors really coincide.
