It's an absolute hidden gem in the midst of the city's state.
Yeah, that's a real earworm.
Uh Northside and Kulak nineteen seventy and it was part of that run of shopping centres that included Dundrum in nineteen seventy-one, Dunhamede, nineteen seventy-three, and Kilbaric and Crumlin in nineteen seventy-four.
But Northside, again, a bit of a hidden gem.
It had a swimming pool on its roof.
Um and the building was designed by Sam Stevenson, who designed the central bank and the Dublin City.
uh uh uh council offices there at Wood Quay.
So again another controversial thing.
Until a couple of years ago, yeah.
I mean swimming pools are notoriously expensive to run.
So um you can yeah, and I think Dublin City Council is probably
offloaded a few swimming pools over over the years because they are very, very expensive.
But the ads at the time a great sell.
Yeah, I mean and there was something very utopian.
I mean I remember been fascinated by it as a child, like the idea of a swimming pool on top of a building just seemed quite extraordinary.
And the ads uh used to say shop and swim tonight at North Sides, which is
Yeah, it's in Kulak and its anchor tenant was Superquinn, which uh was sold to Musgraves in twenty and eleven.
So that was Superquinn very much an another, you know, Irish kind of retail success story.
Absolutely.
Um and I I mean if I could just maybe just uh m make mention of the ILEC Centre has an uh you know that that's got an amazing community amenity in in terms of its library.
