How the system shifts behavior?

During that time, when to understand whether it's a behavior.

So their body is regulated and calm and alert.

And they are making an active choice to avoid a non-preferred task.

that would be more behavioral side.

And we could look at the emotion side to see how can they find meaning in what they're doing?

How can they understand what the expectations are?

Versus when that sensory system comes in, which I always call it, it's like when the pitcher of water is overflowed and you can't get it back in.

To me, it's about helping the parents see that the child loses a lot of eye contact when the behavior is happening.

It's not like they're looking at you and testing.

They're really kind of overflowed.

And then we have to look at the body and do...

you know, getting on their eye level and helping them feel seen and soothed and secure just to get their system ready.

And then we can use our words and help them problem solve.

But it is about understanding timing.

I use a lot of work with parents about timing.

You know, they might be using a lot of words, but maybe they have to slow down.

Maybe they have to quicken their pace in terms of meeting their child.

And so it's looking at different qualities of how they're interacting.

And, you know, again, adding that emotional piece to it.
