One like thing people can do is ask for a palliative care team to be part of their care.

people get really scared around the word palliative.
So like palliative care, hospice is a teeny part of it.
So hospice is like palliative care for people who are actually dying soon.
Like you literally have to be certified, like very likely, more likely than not that you would die within six months.
That's hospice.
Then there's palliative care, which is huge.
You could be like a 22-year-old with Hodgkin's lymphoma who's going to be cured in two years and is like really struggling and suffering and they'll take care of you too.
Or you could be someone with heart failure where it goes up and down and up and down for years and you could have palliative care take care of you.
And basically it's a concurrent care model.
alongside whatever other care you're getting, alongside the oncologist, alongside the neurologist or whomever is taking care of you.
It's actually a medical specialty that only was recognized in the U.S.
20 years ago.
It grew up just like a little bit before that.
