Fear is the enemy.
It's the enemy in performance of anybody's sphere of life.
And if we can figure out how to dismantle it, that's when our performance elevates.
You can't control your thoughts, but you can be in charge of them.
So I'm in charge of my thoughts, and my thoughts generate my feelings, and my feelings generate my actions.
Still to this day, sometimes I'll get that nervous edge when I'm operating or before I'm operating.
I'll say, you are trained.
You are enough.
That's it.
Don't think about the outcome.
What I've learned most about fear is that it's a corrosive force in our lives.
Early on, I had teachers that would say things like, oh, too much fear will paralyze you, but too little makes you foolhardy.
But what I've come to realize is fear is corrosive and it always impedes our performance.
So if we think of performance, performance is your potential minus the interference.
And interference can be discursive thoughts.
It can be thinking about the future.
And that's what fear is.
I mean, fear is the anticipation of an event that might happen in the future that if that event happens, you're going to feel something you don't want to feel.
Mm hmm.
It is.
