people could change gender or were born into the wrong body or felt they were born into the wrong body.

And so it's extraordinary to read Urania at almost 100 years remove to see an awful lot of what we are still talking about today and still grappling with today was being talked about by Eva and her companions who wrote Urania.

They were moving away from the idea of a fixed gender.

And this is very much part of what we now call queer theory and gender studies.

And these are late 20th century, early 21st century

ideas in the universities.

And here you have it in the early 20th century through the magazine that Eva co-founded.

And so the idea of what a man is and what a woman is, I find is extraordinary, radical conceptions of gender at a time when it really wasn't being discussed outwardly.

And you could say Urania didn't have a very large readership

But it was there for anybody who wanted to read it.

And it was evidence of people actually grappling with sexuality and gender identity and the idea and the conception of patriarchy and gender in society.

So she was a woman ahead of her time.

She was an extraordinary thinker.

And of course, Sonia has also published on her religious writings and her translation of the Gospel of St.

John.

And I think she was just an extraordinary woman.

I think she wasn't what we would call a very narrow nationalist.

As Sonia has said, she did support the right of the Irish people to rise up for their freedom because it is very much an anti-empire thing.

And she supported, for instance, Roger Casement's work when he was revealing the severe human rights abuses in the Congo and in Peru earlier.
