How often we talk, how well we talk, the things we can talk about, right?

This is a problem within the mental health community as well.

Many practitioners, because of insurance regulations and the threat of lawsuit, if they hear the word suicide, they call nine one one.

They, you know, they will involuntarily commit someone.

And it's it's far more nuanced than that.

I had a kid once in an intake say, I'm not gonna answer your question about suicide because you're gonna send me to the hospital.

And this it's an interesting moment, right?

Because it's a challenge, but it's also a please help me.

Right.

I'm telling you I have a feeling.

I'm also telling you that I'm smart enough to know the rules.

When we talk about that with our kids, it's about holding space.

And what I w when I say to clients and intakes and when it comes up is

My job my number one job is to keep you safe.

I'm never gonna make a decision without talking to you.

When feelings like that come up, it's our job to think about all the options that are presented to us.

Everything from yes, we need to go out to a hospital right now to maybe I need a day off from school.

Right.

And like you need to trust me as the adult in the room to know what those options are and how to connect you to them.

And I need to trust you, my child or children, to tell me what's going on in your in your mind, but also in your heart.
