As head of Medicare and Medicaid, Dr. Mehmet Oz has been pitching the idea as a way to address chronic staffing shortages in rural communities.

Matt Falsman is the co-founder of HoneyHealth, a company that builds AI tools for companies.

He says AI could help by taking the pressure off doctors and nurses.

Critics say using AI to fill gaps in underserved communities risks turning patients into test cases, especially in communities with limited broadband and older populations who may not trust the technology.
