Psychological safety is not in the workplace.
It's not designed for therapy at work.
It is not designed so that you can bring your full mess to work.
That is not what psychological safety is for, okay?
Psychological safety is so that when you see something, you can say it.
And so, hey, listen, I've been studying this thing all day.
I know no one wants to hear this right now because we've all made a decision.
We're down this path.
But I got to tell you, I'm seeing something that's not right.
I haven't worked it out.
And I've worked it out.
And I just got to tell you, we need that.
We need the diversity of thought, the diversity of unique life experiences, the diversity of unique smells across the planet to say, this doesn't fly.
This language doesn't fly for that group, for this group.
We need to change some stuff.
So psychological safety in service of the purpose, in service of the mission, so that you can speak truth.
Maybe it's the power, but not always.
