And the Communist Manifesto only works if people are fragile.

Things have really gotten out of control around that.

That's a common trend also in the literature.

People are making careers out of saying they're studying the trauma of things like racial discrimination.

And they'll measure that by just giving somebody a questionnaire, asking them if they've faced discrimination.

It doesn't have to be racial.

It can be sexual.

It can be other kinds of minority issues.

If they've perceived discrimination, not that anything's actually ever happened, but just perceived it, that counts as trauma to a lot of scholars in academia today.

That wasn't in his book, but I think if you made a case of that happening a lot, I think that might be agreeable to people like him.

And that's part of that research of if you feel discriminated or perceive negative social interactions, they think that causes chronic stress reactions.

And that gets into another area called adverse childhood experiences or the ACEs, which is very popular too.

That those kinds of chronic negative stress experiences add up and cause asthma, cancer, heart disease.

That's a whole other can of worms.

One way I tried to describe it in one of my books, The Trouble with Trauma, is people are good intentioned.

The humanitarian, they want to help disadvantaged people, children, women, victims of violence.

And we did a lot of things in our country for a hundred years.

We passed national law, state laws.

There's a whole bunch of protections, but it only goes so far.

So you get into around 2000 or so, and we realized we've done all this as a country, but there's still a lot of physical abuse.
