You need people with clinical problems need clinical treatment and people unhappy need other lifestyle kinds of changes.
I would say don't believe it.
And you have to understand where it's coming from.
Like Bessel van der Kolk wants people to think he just looked at the science and then came up with the conclusion.
He followed the data.
And it's backwards.
He had a conclusion that he started with, I believe, and then cherry-picked the data to fit it.
And if you ever hear people saying, this is the one thing that works, this is the only thing that works, that should set off a red flag in your head that they're starting off with an ideology of a worldview of human nature, that they are trying to find data to help convince themselves that they're right.
They're not interested in the truth.
That's a complicated question because people are complicated and the human brain is complicated.
And that's why psychotherapy takes months, maybe years to work.
I wish there was just one thing to tell them or a couple things to tell them and they'd have it figured out.
So that's one is just understand it is complicated.
It takes time.
But some things to look for are self-esteem, like are you allowing yourself to believe you deserve the best things in life?
Or are you the one sabotaging and self-defeating yourself?
Are you good interpersonally with other people?
Or do you maybe have some deficits in how you behave?
deal with people and your interpersonal skills.
Are you overly sarcastic?
