Um we're not too far removed from that uh with these these current sites.

And we we can see these monuments as more than just tombs.

So calling them a tomb is kind of a a traditional label and it implies they were only used for burials.

Whereas in actual fact there's a whole lot more to these monuments.

Uh than that.

So uh as Noel ha has said in the past, these are more monuments with burials as opposed to burial monuments.

So for the people who built them

They are expressing themselves.

physically on the landscape.

A landscape that up until this point is

Largely unaltered by human hand.

So to build something this large out of stone

so permanent is a very visual

statement on the landscape.

It's yes, it's expressing their own identity.

It is relating them to their ancestors.

And it's also probably some form of territorial statement or claim.

These are the first people to settle down to create fields and farms.

to link themselves permanently with this with this spot and with this place.
