So there's truth in this trimester zero.
Three months before you want to start trying to get pregnant, by focusing on decreasing inflammation, you are going to have better quality eggs kind of coming out of the vault, which is my favorite analogy that we'll talk about.
that is going to prepare you for the one that you're ovulating, hopefully having a higher chance of being genetically normal, having good mitochondria, functioning normally.
But if your partner in that three months is focusing on taking antioxidants, cutting out toxins, stopping toxic behaviors like marijuana and alcohol, working on eating anti-inflammatory and high-fiber
It's getting out of the sauna, avoiding heat.
That three-month time period, he's going to generate the best sperm that he can.
And so then when you're ready to get pregnant, you are putting forth the best egg and the best sperm.
And even though infertility is not fair and it is not just, and you can do everything right and still not get pregnant,
The mentality most people I see is they want to say, I'm controlling everything I can.
Like, I can't control everything, but why am I leaving some things on the table?
Because there are certainly factors that will negatively harm your fertility and make it harder to get pregnant.
So trimester zero is the idea that before you get pregnant, so we'll say the three months before you start trying to get pregnant, you are setting the stage for egg quality and sperm quality.
And that by paying attention to the nutrients you're putting in your body and avoiding toxins, you're going to have better egg and sperm quality, which can lead to an easier time getting pregnant, but also improved pregnancy outcomes.
Lower rates of morning sickness, better placental function, lower rates of preeclampsia, better birth weight.
All that stuff really matters, right?
We don't want to just think about the positive pregnancy test being the end of the race.
It's really just the beginning.
Oh, absolutely.
Maggie, one of the cutest things, you know, in my patients.
Okay, right.
