So I share that hypothesis.

I share that intuition.

We have never observed it in our data, but it's not obvious that we're studying that in the right way to be able to detect that.

Typically, we find very, very small gender differences in our experiments and gender differences that can often be confused with other things, like at the party.

For instance, you described how you get so attired because you're an introvert and your husband doesn't because he's an extrovert.

Well, you're also behaving very differently.

Some of these things that look like gender may not actually be gender.

But when it comes to being open and honest, I definitely share the sense that

Women tend to be more open and vulnerable with people than men do.

We don't, though, find differences between men and women and how much they're going to enjoy, say, a deep conversation where they're required to be open and vulnerable with somebody.

If anything, women are a little more pessimistic.

than men are here.

But we're not doing the kinds of things where we're studying, you know, day-to-day life necessarily and the kind of choices we make.

But in general, my experience from looking at tens of thousands of data points, so I think there are big differences and there are small differences.

The big differences are, am I engaging or not?

The smaller ones tend to be things like gender and personality that tend not to matter as much as we might imagine them.

I have, but you don't find big differences between men and women in the surveys about loneliness.

As a psychologist, I study these misbeliefs for a living.

I don't know where that one comes from exactly, but it's not coming from the data.
