It was a service, a humanitarian thing.
I'd seen a thing like a profile of MSF in my French textbook when I was in year 10.
And that's what planted the seed.
Like I was looking at that going, oh, that sounds like something I'd like to do.
You combine that with just the sort of global view that my parents had instilled in me and it was always going to happen.
Not immediately, but put you up there in the list.
It put me on the pathway.
Of course, you know, Prime Minister Morrison and Greg Hunt and Minister Hunt didn't know any of that about my background when they appointed me.
I had actually been part of the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre, which is a disaster response mob out of Darwin.
So that was set up.
This was before COVID?
Yeah, this was before COVID.
So between MSF and COVID, I'm up in Darwin, my wife and I, we had two of our three kids up there and there was a policy called Developing the North at the time.
And we developed the North.
We had two kids, we built a house, we did all sorts of stuff.
You definitely contributed.
Yeah, four years up there.
And I remember clearly, you know, it was a great time.
