Because right so much aligned I wasn't doing the things that I know
physically do help me live in a more regulated body and nervous system, but I was listening to what my body needed in that moment, even when I knew someone else was going to be impacted to some extent by my choice.
Well, I I lab as I saw myself like that first week, I did have a lot of like the moment of like what am I gonna do?
And then I would inevitably cancel, you know, and not go to that and not go to that.
And that week I would say I was really percolating and the guilts, the should do transition, yeah.
And once I decided that I would probably continue to to feel all of that distress and that was not anything I wanted to add um to what I was dealing with at that time.
That once I made the choice to kind of tell her not to expect me, then no, I felt very free to live in the energy, which is what I was wanting, which is to stop action and just replenish.
Well, thank you for sharing your own journey, because I think that's a very common entry point where rest.
gets associated with a lack of safety because of direct messaging and or right how action and doing versus resting, what the beliefs were, how that was embodied in the home, what we saw modeled.
And right, for a lot of us, right, it becomes the doing action, like we're talking about earlier, becomes a protection, right?
If I'm moving.
So in addition to what have I learned rest meant based on that messaging that you have received and others have received, right?
What is rest or what is movement allowed me to avoid?
Right.
So for some of us, just like doing, focusing attention on something else allows us to avoid the overwhelming, uncomfortable, you know, emotions underneath.
And again, for a large majority of us as well, much like myself, doing right was very associated in childhood with attention, with safety, with connection.
Right.

Performing athletically or academic academically were the moments where my mom was on the sidelines paying attention to me, celebrating me.
