For a lot of us again, what we have associated with rest, what we've learned rest or pausing or not doing has meant.
For others, right?
It's the action of doing has played a protective mechanism.
And for all those reasons, it goes back to again themed throughout this conversation.
To feel the benefits of resting.
A body has to be in a parasympathetic state.
And if we're not, right, that those are the moments where we're sitting on the couch and we can't sit still.
We're shaking.
We're getting up.
Our mind is racing.
Right.
Because what is likely the case is that our body isn't in rest on that couch, meaning our muscles aren't aren't at ease.
I'm not allowing the couch to hold me.
My breathing isn't calm and slow.
And deep and right, all these indicators that my body is at rest.
What is more likely happening is I'm in a completely sympathetic driven response, right?
More likely.
Where my muscles are tense, my mind is racing, my heart is racing, I'm holding my breath, I'm breathing quickly.
And so while I appear, I'm at rest, right?
My body is not at rest.
