So this is a guideline.
It's not like an absolute number that, oh, if I hit that, I'll be totally fine.
So you need to learn to listen to your body and listen to the signals of dehydration.
to understand like, oh, actually, I need to start taking some like proactive steps to restore my hydration status.
Things like thirst is a really obvious one.
Your urine is going to change color.
Both of those, it's already around 1% to 2% dehydration.
So when we're talking about the effects on your blood pressure and all this kind of stuff, that's already happened.
By the time you're thirsty, like those changes inside your body have already started to happen.
Other signs that people may be not familiar of are things like headaches, nausea, tiredness.
You're probably familiar with the term hangry.
The food version, the water version is thangry.
Exactly, exactly.
So that's kind of like the key message.
And another reason why that's really important is once you get dehydrated, basically your body starts to move out from its kind of like normal operating range, right?
I'm going to borrow your phrase, Fern, of it's moving outside its happy place, right?
Yeah.
It's dehydrated.
And so consequently, your body does something to recorrect and try and move back, right?
And so what it does is it starts to release the stress hormone cortisol.
