So for example, um

a woman who doesn't want the induction that you are suggesting, um, you know, then talking to her about, all right, how does that look for you?

In a week?

How does it look for you in two weeks?

You know, where where is the limit of that decision for you?

you know, reaching compromise where possible is great when you can.

Um and carefully documenting your discussions where agreement can't be reached.

And um this is the other thing I went back to before about trusting women.

So um

You sometimes have to accept that women will take responsibility for their decisions.

That sort of trust is often difficult.

I I think that's what a lot of clinicians struggle with.

They say, Well, you know, what's she going to say?

If this all goes wrong, as I foresee it could, um, uh, she will come back to me and say, Why didn't you stop this?

But um I think that, you know, you have to come to a point where you trust that the woman has been informed and

that she is making her decision.

So when I looked at this question, the respectful maternity care framework has um uh quite a good um

uh list of uh to follow um and I'm just going to go through that.

You know the key inform the woman so staying informed all the time even though things might be changing quickly.

Sometimes this is challenging, you've got lots of demands, you're trying to run an emergency, but it's always worth taking just a short period of time out to say.
