This is what's happening and I am trying to organize these things.
It often really changes the atmosphere when you've just taken that time to um uh inform the woman of what is happening.
Trying to provide continuity of carer so um uh where things are um
Not going well, having the same person present for a period of time.
We all know continuity of care is so important.
Um, respectful, effective communication, so ki communication is key.
Protect the woman's environment, so reduce the number of clinicians in the room.
And certainly, you know, when a code has been called, um, there's
number of helpful people coming to see you and you are glad to see them.
But for the women and their partners that's often part of the most stressful component of it.
So when the initial assessment is done, asking people who aren't necessary to go back to their everyday tasks is often a key.
Preparing for immediate action.
So ensuring that the multidisciplinary team
you may ask them to step outside the room but ensuring that they're still really um accessible.
And um, you know, we've certainly I I can recall being there with um a woman with severe help syndrome who was declining care and uh the number of Met calls that we called um and the ICU team would attend and the the at one point the ICU team did ask
Should we just not come?
Because she's not
accepting any of our
um suggestions or any of the things that we were offering, but we said to them, no, we still need you, we still need your support.
And eventually, of course, it came to the point where we absolutely needed them to leap into action.
