Is it possible and worsened her MECFS after a COVID infection?

So is she a long COVID patient or is she an MECFS patient that got exacerbated after COVID?

With the with the alcohol part, I I not exactly sure.

Uh but with the anesthesia part being being an anesthesiologist, I actually just published a paper about a year and a half ago on the perioperative uh clinical management on on long COVID uh specifically, but I I'd extrapolated a lot of information from the MECFS research uh to do to develop these guidelines for the perioperative uh

Um perioperative medicine and for anesthesiologists around the world.

And I've given several talks uh in Europe and in in Morocco in the past couple of months on on this very subject because it is something that is coming into the forefront.

Mm.

Um unfortunately, MECFS patients like Ann have been dealing with this for for decades.

And and because long COVID now, because of the number of patients, we're looking at over 20 million in the last uh

You know, some of these studies that have come out, uh which I which I do question because we don't really have a clinical, uh, diagnostic definition of long COVID.

So could those numbers be even more?

It's possible.

With with anesthesia, there is a lot of documentation that there is uh a lot of intolerances.

Uh some patients develop uh histamine intolerance, uh uh like MCAS, uh mast cell activation syndrome.

So they get really sensitive to there's a sensitivity to all sorts of medications there.

Um to and a lot of times what we try to do is to do regional anesthesia, less general anesthetics.

Less airway manipulation for patients that are having some airway issues, cardiovascular issues, too.
