We can't show any vulnerability because people won't take us seriously.

And I won't be able to, you know, have a voice in the office and actually have people, you know, maybe if you're in a leadership role or the manager or CEO or what have you.

And I'm going to challenge your audience to say no to that because I think that very thing, whatever it is that you're hiding, that you'd rather not talk about, I'm going to challenge you to say that that is actually your advantage.

Somebody needs to hear it or someone needs to see you either go through it or see how you went through it to realize that, hey, you know what, like you mentioned, it's your permission slip.

It is okay.

I wish I would have had someone

who had enough courage and was forthcoming enough to share their struggles about what they went through in medical school.

Because I can tell you right now, not one time did I have anybody just run up to me and say, oh, guess what?

That happened to me too.

But on the other side, once I finally opened up, I've had a few colleagues pull me aside and say, you know what?

And as I'm like, oh, I actually had that happen too.

No way I would have been able to tell anybody.

I commend you for doing that because they're too scared.

Like when you get to the point that you are scared into silence, that's dangerous.

It sends the wrong message.

And then what does that do?

What are we teaching?

What do you, I mean, I don't have children, but like, what are you teaching your kids?

What are you teaching the younger generation that's coming up, you know, behind you that these are the things that we sweep under the rug and we don't talk about that.

We'll never grow.
