the gumption and the ambition and the desire to get up the next day and keep going towards the goal.

And it's nothing against anybody that, you know, did it the first time and got in and breezed through.

Congratulations.

But it also makes me think back to should have never happened on paper.

I shouldn't even be a doctor.

That's part of the premise behind my TEDx talk, Who Gets to Heal, is that what are we truly selecting for?

The rigid academic algorithms, this, that, and the other, are erasing a lot of darn good candidates who will never be seen because they're getting filtered out before they even ever have a chance.

To get in front of a human being.

Exactly.

And I think that sometimes that's the missing piece is that when we are in the midst of whatever the unpleasantries are,

it's common, and obviously, I mean, we keep the focus on ourselves.

Ooh, this is happening to me, and this hurts me, and oh, woe is me, all this me, me, me.

But at the end of the day, it's like, how about we do a reframe and think about, okay, yes, I'm getting, you know, my back is against the wall right now, but what is the lesson that I, or lessons, because oftentimes there's more than one that I can extract from this,

and share that with someone else who needs to hear that.

Because sometimes you don't realize what you're going through right now really isn't even for you in the moment, but it's going to be the foundation that you are going to lay for the next thing, that next business, that next boardroom you walk into, that next, you know, parent-teacher association meeting that you walk into or a community event.

It's like you don't,
