But the cool thing is is

You know, we can continue this kind of crowd involvement if people see sharks like Great Whites in their backyard and we get like epicentres of them, we can focus targeting and tagged tagging in those areas, not just Stewart Island, but

Stewart Island is the go to spot 'cause it's an aggregation site and from December through to April is when I'm focusing trips down there to deploy these tags.

But like I say, if you've got a great white hotspot in your backyard, let us know.

Yeah, the I mean the beauty of this project is it um is it you know, adds data that we haven't had for over a decade.

So Newa and Doc did some really cool proprietary studies down there from tw two thousand five to twenty fifteen.

They tagged up like eighty three great whites.

And we learnt that we were one of five places in the world that they aggregate and it's only at one island there, this Motonui Island.

in the five oh straight.

So it's incredibly novel.

But then nothing happened, doc lost funding, the you know, th th we put priorities into fisheries and whatnot.

And no one had really studied them in great way, populations all around the world are disappearing.

And we're seeing adverse ecological effects from that.

And so

w you know, for me I was like, We need to study this last real stronghold down here.

And what's been epic is in the last couple of years we've we've learnt so much more.

How the migration routes have changed, what is the same.

The main point being all the great whites in Southwest in the Southwest Pacific and even Western Australia, a lot of them come to this one island every year.

So like, what are they doing there?
