You know, that is so normal.
We are flooded in pregnancy, even in anticipating getting pregnant.
This is true for adoptive parents.
This is all true for gay parents, blended parents.
This is true for anyone who is distinctly involved in raising children.
The expectation of a child fills your body with certain neurotransmitters, particularly oxytocin, but there are others, that raise your level of optimism and glow.
It's like being in love, but you're in love with an idea.
Yeah.
And all the Italian and French Renaissance painters who painted those gorgeous cupids, those were their idealized child angels.
And sooner or later, by the way, every child falls from grace.
It could be at birth.
It could be down the road.
But there's a deep disappointment and a mourning that this child is not the perfect cupid.
They either imagined or the child looked like at birth or sooner or later, they just become people.
And people have warts.
We have warts.
We have scabs.
We have scars.
We have emotional issues.
