that is just was objectively true that Asian students were being discriminated against by Harvard, right?

I mean, they just if they weren't discriminated against, they would based on their numbers and based on their their, you know, cultural values and the level at which they were preparing for college.

They were they were going to swamp the admissions of Harvard University, as they have in many other universities.

And Harvard had a policy to select against them.

And it was a racist policy.

So my point is not that we shouldn't value diversity.

My point is we have to be alert to the problem of perverse incentives.

We have to care about diversity.

alleviating the real inequalities that still exist with remedies that actually work, right?

So if you care about poverty, if you care about inequality in all its forms, educational inequality, inequality of health outcomes, right?

Well, then you should be targeting those in a way that is sane and not injurious to our politics.

I mean, so for instance, during COVID, we had a policy where...

businesses were gonna be helped, preferentially based on the color of the skin of the people who were the business owners, right?

Yeah, it was not illegal.

I mean, it was ruled that it was not illegal, but it was injurious because the ground truth exposed in that article

in that lawsuit was that for an asian applicant to have the equivalent chance of getting into harvard as a black applicant all things being equal they had to have they had to have to have a a 400 point higher score on the sat right so it's just like when pete when facts like that come tumbling out of a lawsuit of that sort whatever the outcome i don't know if that's a fact you had to have a 400 percent but 400 400 points yeah 400 points yeah it's it's just

Listen, you could practice affirmative action in a way that bypassed that specific concern totally.

You could simply, rather than lower the requirements to get into Harvard, you could just proactively find

preferentially find black and brown applicants who have the same scores as the Asian applicants that you want to diminish the numbers of.
