So again, I'm talking about ideas and their consequences, not race or nationality or really even any other piece of culture.
And the problem with certain ideas is that they can make it seem entirely reasonable to celebrate your own coming death or even the deaths of your children in defense of the completely spurious claims about the divine origin of a specific book.
If we drew a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad on this podcast and showed it to everyone on YouTube, you and I would spend the rest of our lives in hiding.
That's the world we're living in.
There would be tens of thousands of people in the streets, in the capitals of major cities,
protesting such a thing.
It's just, it's a, there's only one religion on earth that aggressively seeks to impose its strictures on people who don't share the faith, right?
And even if they didn't do that, even if it was just the strictures applied within the faith among two billion people, we have to recognize that we're living in a world now where
There is real gender apartheid, right?
I mean, we've worried about apartheid in the past in South Africa.
Some people dishonestly claim that Israel is an apartheid state.
It's absolutely not.
But there isn't a problem of apartheid.
It's gender apartheid throughout the world in sufficiently orthodox Muslim communities where women are forced to wear a veil, and they're deprived of all kinds of political rights to education, et cetera.
and their degrees of this obviously but what we have in the west are a lot of ivy league educated people who are totally confused about the significance of the hijab right and and they imagine that it's a sign of female empowerment you know just throwing off the male gaze and you've got a religious bully and theocrat like linda sarsour being you know anchoring the women's march
And Shepard Fairey creates a poster of a beautiful woman in a hijab.
This is all upside down.
Most of the people who wear the veil throughout the Muslim world are forced to do it by the violence of the men in their lives.
