No.
And this is very embarrassing because I tell all my students, like, you have to go to therapy before becoming a therapist.
And I think we'll probably dive into a little bit more of like why that's so important later.
But I'll mention it kind of like briefly here.
You know, when you are doing this work with other people, it's so important that you have fully examined therapy.
your own biases, values, belief systems, et cetera, so that when you are in a therapeutic relationship with somebody else, you are making sure that those things aren't transcending into the relationship with the other, that you have figured out yourself so well, at least in some ways, to make sure that when you are counseling somebody else,
Like that that isn't informing the way that you do it.
I'll give you an example.
Some people are still carrying such deep wounds about their own couple relationship that they'll then start working with a couple and side with one partner because that's what resonates more personally to them.
in terms of their lived experience.
And so we want folks to go to therapy first to make sure that that doesn't happen, that you are trying your best, right, to remain as neutral as possible, even though neutrality is also impossible because all of us are bringing in our own lived experiences as therapists.
We want to be able to remain impartial, right?
We want to have what we call like contextual therapies, like multi-directed partiality therapy,
that we're able to hear every single person out.
We're not citing, right, et cetera.
But back to your original question of like, did I ever go?
No, I think that it was really taboo in my family.
My parents definitely didn't go to therapy.
Again, they were like immigrants.
They came from Mexico.
