And it's actually, again, about relaxation of these muscles.
To accommodate something internally, we need to be able to relax these muscles and soften.
That's going to help with blood flow, lubrication.
And if you're just walking around tight all of the time, particularly in today's environment, that's going to lead to discomfort with intercourse and difficulty with orgasms.
It's common, but it's not normal.
Leakage and pain are information from your body that something's not working the way it should be.
When you cough or sneeze, these muscles should contract to hold in urine in your bladder.
If they're relaxing and they're leaking, that could be a weakness issue.
It could be in coordination or tension issue.
It could be your bladder's not emptying well.
It's a sign that your pelvic floor needs some work.
And this is where myself as a pelvic floor therapist comes in to help you retrain these muscles.
Well, the first is it's always step one is awareness.
And step two, there's actually a great quiz I have on my website.
It's called thevaginawhisper.com.
And it walks you through, are you leaking?
Do you have pain?
And it tells you, are you more likely to have tension in your muscles and you need relaxation?
Are you more likely to have weakness and you need strengthening?
I think the first thing is to kind of determine which pathway you need to walk down.
