Um it could be things like

a lack of classroom routines which creates ambiguity.

Strains our students already compromised ability to

uh exhibit cognitive flexibility.

Um it means

uh being very careful with how much content you present at once and for how long.

So we want anything that our students are using cognition on that is not related to learning.

So I'm working really hard to ignore this chatter right here in the background.

That's a waste.

That's a we we want that energy to be geared toward the learning.

Um, I'm working really hard to uh remember these nine directions my teacher just gave me so that I can complete this task.

And I'm also trying to remember the content that I learned that the task is about.

Um, that is interference, that is too much, and now you're spending so much time uh mentally rehearsing these directions.

That it's gonna show in the product, right?

You're not gonna be able to demonstrate what you know as well as you could have if you could have.

redirected some of that energy towards the actual activity itself.

Increase automaticity.

Automaticity being of content.

So any prerequisite knowledge, if it's automatic, meaning I don't have to think about it, I just know it.
