Yeah, so we'll all remember Zoolander, that great noughties romp where one of the kind of key things was that Zoolander himself said he wasn't an ambi-turner.
So when he'd go to the bottom, he was a male model, go to the bottom of the walkway and couldn't turn left.
He could only turn right.
But it turns out that all humans have a preference for going left.
So this is really weird.
And it was completely discovered by accident.
There were Italian scientists that were randomly looking at how many people you could fit in a room during COVID without them kind of continuously bumping into each other.
I don't know who took part, but they got people to do it.
How could you do that?
PhD students.
And they looked at their movement and they saw that kind of in a big ensemble that people tended to go left far more than they do right.
They control this for gender.
for culture.
They did it with people in Japan to see do they kind of have the same orientation.
They also checked it for people who are left and right-handed.
I would have assumed this was the thing, right?
You know, if you're right-handed, you'll go to the left.
But no, everyone does it, right?
It turns out that ants do it too, right?
