A convoluted effort to maintain your sleep pharmaceutically.
One of the things we're we're not gonna have time today, I don't think, to talk about cognitive behavioral therapy, C BTI strategies very much, but one of the things that m many people now doing C BTI, including myself, incorporate into their version of C BTI is mindfulness strategies.
And and mindfulness is not a sedative either.
The so if people come back to me and say, I tried it and it didn't work, what do you mean it didn't work?
It didn't put me to sleep.
Well, it's not supposed to put you to sleep.
It's supposed to give you if you're using mindful strategies in the middle of the night, it's supposed to give your mind something quiet.
and boring to do while you wait for the sleepwaves to come back.
So it's it's an attempt to
provide the mind with something other than that ramping up the sleep anxiety, the cognitive hyperarousal about the fact I'm not asleep.
And of course it's very useful for all sorts of things in daily waking life too.
So I mean
There's not much to dislike about mindfulness practices.
Yeah, it is relaxing and it's not the same as sleep, but but here's the thing.
When you go through those sleep stages, one, two, three, four.
One is a transition stage, it's very light.
And if you wake some 'em up out of stage one sleep.
It's
possible and you say, Were you asleep yet?
They will say no.
