It's going to be interesting to see what it looks like for trainees across the country because there's kind of two trains of thought, I think, that I've heard is.
One's, you know, we want to produce trainees that know how to create their own findings, create their own impression.
So we want to limit the use of AI-supported tools for the trainees.
However, I think the other argument to that is
what my career is going to look like, I'm going to be using these resources ideally as much as I can to kind of optimize my workflow, to optimize my efficiency.
So having the experience while you're in training might just help you get over kind of the mundane, you know, small details and focus on kind of the learning and the workflow more.
Yeah, so I'm in the integrated IR residency at UVA, so I'm a PGY2, but an R1.
Radiology is typically an advanced residency, so you still have to do an intern year.
There are some IR programs out there that are fully integrated or categorical, so it includes your intern year.
So my intern year was actually here at UVA as well, and it was in surgery.
Usually pretty overwhelming.
As an R1, a lot of things are very, very new.
Even in majority of my training right now is still diagnostic radiology with IR interspersed throughout it.
So we had dedicated IR time as well as IR call and then IR clinic throughout our entire residency.
But our program really focuses on being a good diagnostic radiology resident too.
So, and we take call, we take diagnostic call just like our diagnostic colleagues.
And so right now my week floats between, I just finished neuroradiology.
So we have, you know, daytime shifts, but we also have late shifts to help out with our call teams picking up overnight.
So I just did two weeks of what we call late neuro.
And so I come in at 1230 and I'll get to why exactly 1230 and then work until nine every day.
