You can have a negative experience that people basically say, no, I'm not going to work with you.

I mean, luck is a long game.

I mean, sure, you get calls for references for people.

And you decide, wow, is this someone who I want to support or not?

There's a funny story.

About 18 years ago, I was on a trip with my family to Costa Rica.

And I'm so excited about this trip.

Our son was about 16, 17 years old.

So excited.

The trip was over the Christmas break.

And we got there and this trip turned into a disaster.

Disaster.

It was a Stanford alumni trip.

They had scoped out the trip during the off-season.

And when we got there, it was high season.

And it turned into like a party place.

There were bars in the pool.

The drinking age was not enforced.
