Yeah, well, I think it's also really interesting to differentiate between networking, as people define it, and actually building real relationships.

I mean, honestly, I can't stand the concept of networking.

I mean, silly.

What a waste of time.

It's really about building trust.

And so when you ask, what are the things that people misunderstand about luck, building trusting relationships over time is really powerful.

In fact, I have a story about one of my former students,

who ended up becoming the videographer for Kamala Harris at the White House.

How did she get that job?

Well, she had a professor when she was in college who she took a documentary class, loved the class, and stayed in touch over 10 years.

Just stayed in touch with this professor.

She sent samples of things she was doing, and they just became colleagues and friends.

And when she graduated from graduate school, she sent out hundreds of applications for jobs and could not get a job.

She was really panicked, and she reached out to this professor and said, hey, I'm just really struggling.

I just need one job.

I can't even get an answer.

And the professor said, you know, I just got a call from a friend who's trying to source some candidates for this job at the White House.

may I throw your hat in the ring?

And lo and behold, she got the job.

But she would not have gotten the job if she'd just reached out to this professor, you know, out of the blue, right?
