Um but it this is this is vitally important.

You know, finding the ways to make sure that people are okay enough in order to be in a place to care for others is something that we hear a lot about.

Uh and Nessie, who is now in her early thirties actually, but wow when I met her, she was fourteen.

in a r rural village in Lilongwe in Malawi.

And I I met her because I was working for care at the time, so I was doing research and I had been asked to write a feature article for the Christian Science Monitor about life on a dollar a day, which was the poverty line at that point.

And so I interviewed her family and her mother, and it turned out that her older brother was going to secondary school and she had dropped out.

I reported this for the readers of the monitor, who are kind of a special bunch, you know, very active global bunch, and they started sending money to me to ask that I help an essence.

So it was actually my Malawian colleagues at care who guided me because I didn't I was not an expert in the cultural aspects and what would be more sustainable.

They guided me to say

If you just try to target help to this one girl, the community may not support that.

So let's we have to find a way to be fair and work with the community.

So we found all the girls in that village that hadn't made it past eighth grade.

And we worked with the women's group and we worked with the chief and we um found a way to bundle up the money from the readers and get those girls back into school.
