The people in Gaza

can't leave.

So that doesn't make them technically asylum seekers or or refugees.

They are uh, you know, people who are experiencing, you know, displacement within their own um within their own areas.

But um I think that

This really is a good example of what you're talking about as far as trauma.

And before joining WRC, I did reporting on the women peace builders from Palestine, so representing and in Gaza as well as the West Bank, um, and also in Israel.

And so I spent a lot of time with a group called Women of the Sun.

And Women of the Sun was successful in raising some funds and raising some support to be able to to offer some basic um training coordination for women in Gaza and in the West Bank.

And it was very interesting to me to understand that

Um one of the first things that they saw as a priority was to deal with trauma, to discuss and to support one another.

Because even before, you know, grander plans

Really dealing with

You know, the trauma at the level of survival, you know, being there, supporting one another, having those facilitated conversations was just so essential.

And and these are women who they're leaders in their own right.

Some of them are leaders of organizations, others are leaders in the sense of protecting their communities and their families, and, you know, figuring out how

to survive um and doing that through collaboration.

Um, but but addressing that that first layer of, you know, how are we living, how are we surviving, I think is very real and very visceral.

I do think that, you know, this is something that we hear from people on the front lines.
