And so I loved what you said earlier because it's very important.
There's a chapter in my book that's looking at this kind of neo-spiritualism of the utopia you mentioned.
And you kind of call BS from the beginning on that.
You're like...
Humans have never done utopian things.
Humans are part of the stress mechanism of the planet.
I'm convinced of it because what we do all the time is we stress the system.
We finally invented airplanes.
The first thing we did was try to jump out of them.
We just like stress.
We like the discomfort of pushing the envelope.
And I think we live on a planet in the middle of a universe that loves the same thing.
It loves the stress of it.
It loves the friction of possibility.
It loves death because immediately there's rebirth.
And every time there's a death, there's more opportunity for new creation, new imagination.
And so when I say everything is perfect, it's literal.
It means everything is reimagining itself all the time.
And if humans do go extinct in these coming decades, that's part of a beautiful journey of life going, iterating, iterating, iterating, iterating.
There's a moment, though, with every hospice patient where you suddenly get to see life return.
