I think it is true that both those kinds of story should hold equal space.

They're told with very different purposes in mind.

I don't think we could describe that as a story.

Because, really, a story needs the lens through which it was experienced.

It needs that subjective element of the human being to be a story.

You can communicate literal facts.

But that's just information.

A story should help you feel someone else's heartbeat, should help you feel someone else's love or sadness or happiness.

whether that person be real or fictional.

I do wonder if that's a good hypothesis for stories.
