And I thought she was very effective in the way that she did that.
No, I don't.
I think I'm too familiar now with how sort of erratic Trump is to believe that any of that has been a change.
But one thing, Don, that did stand out to me from that is I was getting on an elevator when that moment happened.
And I know it because I got a push notification from the New York Times and the headline was Kamala Harris and Donald Trump shake hands at the 9-11 memorial.
And it occurred to me, and this is a rather obvious point,
But if you were to go back in time and you were to show that push notification to anybody
Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, Barack Obama and John McCain, to Bush-Gore, to Kerry.
The notion that it would be a headline that the candidates for the president of the United States shook hands would be unthinkable.
And it is yet another sign, as if any were needed over the course of the last decade, of how just uncivil our politics have become in the Trump era.
And that...
that in and of itself was dispiriting.
