Yeah, I mean, um, you know, it's I think everyone on our team would have said the same thing at at at the middle and towards the end of last year.
Like we really didn't know.
I mean, I I I think we all kind of had a a bit of an inclination, um, that he was going to come back once, you know, he didn't want to shake hands with the the Penguins players and he kinda didn't want to do like a little final goodbye um uh against Columbus in our last game there and and um you know his family wasn't at the game, so I think we we kinda got an inclination like
Like I said, that um he was probably gonna be back for another year.
But at the same time, like you n you never know what what happens in the summer and and if he really wanted to do it again.
But I think he saw some of the moves that our team made and and uh you know the fact that I think we can be a really good team and uh, you know, really competitive team this year and um obviously he he's still a huge part of the our team.
Like he led the led our team in in goals and points last year.
So um you know, you don't you don't wanna lose a guy like that obviously and and what he does for the locker room on
the ice and off the ice.
Um it's just you you can't really repe replace that obviously with with what he's done in his career and and how much he means to the team.
So I was very happy when he sent a text that he was coming back and uh it was kind of came out of nowhere.
It was uh I think it was a uh maybe a week or two after the the free agency and and just decided that it was it was the time to to come back.
So it was awesome to to see and um the boys were all fired up.

Yeah, text in the group chat text in the group chat, but i it was on Twitter probably two minutes uh after that.
Actually, uh I was actually golfing with one of my buddies and and uh he had texted the group chat maybe five minutes before and then my buddy was on his phone and uh saw it on Twitter and then I checked my phone and he had sent the message.
So um all the all the guys were really fired up and and excited to have him back.
Uh, you know, it's hard to imagine the the Washington Capitals without uh
um the grade eight.
So, uh it's exciting to to have him back for another year and and I'm not gonna I'm not gonna say it's gonna be his last year 'cause who knows w with him.
