You see, I said earlier I spent a couple of days incarcerated in Leon County Jail in Tallahassee.
It was god awful.
The food there was so bad that I would have welcomed a possum burger.
I remember one afternoon, me and a couple of the boys there were curious about the cheese.
You see, the cheese, it bent a little bit, but it was still super strong, you know?
And no matter how hard any of us tried, it would not melt.
We even put a slice in the dryer for an hour and pulled it out intact.
That was how fucking gross this shit was.
Yeah, you know that dog food has higher state.
Nutritional value?
Yes.
Yeah, absolutely.
Then about a decade later, I actually did a comedy show at Bryan County Jail.
That place was run pretty well, which I'm sure is why they let us in with a camera crew.
Bryan County, Texas is actually home to one of the most progressive sheriffs and former American Jail Association President Wayne Dickey.
Sheriff Dickey ran a pretty tight ship over there.
And one day when we were shooting, he said something that really stuck with me.
I'm paraphrasing, of course.
But he said he wanted his jail to be a place of true rehabilitation because most of the people behind bars would be getting out one day and they would again be his neighbors.
And he wanted to live next to good people.
