Let's talk about hotel tech startups.
A lot of young and inexperienced, but super intelligent people working there.
But they don't have the life experience of hiring and firing people, of the whole life cycle.
So they'll sign someone up, they'll recruit someone, and on the first day, there's no onboarding plan.
Hotel tech isn't just a big industry, one market where everyone kind of is the same.
It all starts in the recruitment stage and even in the job description.
It's actually all about expectation setting.
So what I usually ask my clients to do is explain to them what the worst week looks like working for you because there will be some bad days.
No one really knows.
what someone in a certain position, certain hierarchy and department should be earning or what is the average earnings depending on the geography that you're in, the product that you work for.
Some companies are using AI to hire people and I'd say 90% of the feedback I get from anyone in the process, whether they're a hiring manager
or a candidate, a job seeker, is negative.
I saw my father was always working for a very large company, and I always felt like he was just treated like a number.
You know, after working for 25 years for the same company, he got made redundant.
And they hired lawyers to get as much out of his severance pay, as much as possible, biting him.
And it caused him so much stress that it caused him to have a heart attack.
I told myself, I'm never, ever going to let myself be in a position like that.
