And then as soon as you start, it's so fascinating because you just, you see a snapshot of a time that life has changed so much in Ireland in the last 100 years.
And it was kind of at a point of such pivotal change for everybody, country people moving into the city, you know, education changing, financial backgrounds changing, all that kind of hunger and thirst for this republic that was kind of being born.
And it really ignited something in me that I didn't expect.
Yeah, so we were all raised in Grandad's house.
My mum took care of him as he died on Quaker Road.
And so we were all born into that house.
And Grandad was, you know, a very strong fixture of the family.
And we would do our rosary every night.
And he had his sheep in the garden and his three-piece suit for gardening.
And my mum and dad did an amazing job at...
you know, giving him what he needed as he was getting older.
And then every dinner time, it was my job as a smallie, I was only six or whatever, to go and collect, you know, call him up from the garden for his dinner.
And yeah, unfortunately, he had died in the garden.
Actually...
Had the man had a choice, that's exactly where he would have wanted to pass away, taking care of his sheep and tending all his vegetables and his greenhouse.
So it never felt shocking or fearful to me.
I just have an image of his wellies.
and his three-piece suit and running up the garden to my mum at the kitchen window, just saying something's not right with Granda.
But it was never frightening.
And he was laid out in the family, you know, in the living room for those three nights.
