I thought the first thing I said to Ollie as we left the cinema was I felt like this was super modern.
I felt like it was filmed right now, but not one part of me felt cringe about that.
Where did you sit on the second compared to the first?
The details in this, I don't know who they had consulting from digital media world, but they had some great fucking digital consultants, I feel, because like it felt that detail.
I completely agree with you.
The offices felt real.
Sorry, I know I'm a bit religious about this.
Should we speak about what BuzzFeed had to say about the film?
I would love you to tell me what BuzzFeed has to say.
Well, it's funny that you say that because I don't disagree and I think when we get into the character of Miranda Priestly in a little bit,
I have a lot of thoughts on that and maybe how sympathetic even I felt towards this character compared to the first movie.
That said, you're also dealing with the fact that 20 years has gone past since the first one and Anna is still around and more powerful than ever.
And so in many ways the proof is in the pudding.
The fact that she's still not just in that job but in bigger jobs and has more power than ever isn't to say that there was never going to be a critical second fiction movie about her.
But it's kind of hard to keep arguing that she's this awful, awful devil when in reality there's got to be a reason she's still here 20 years later with as much cultural power as she has.
