these cases like really make me so upset as a woman and as the mother of a daughter, how wildly unfair the justice system is skewed against women in so many ways.
Like I can't, that she gets abused for years by this man and then goes, has to go to prison for it.
And then, you know, and I'm not,
Obviously, it brings up these really important, complicated questions that can someone be both a victim and a criminal?
Right.
It probably, the answer is it probably can't be, but he, I love that the film also has that scene where she goes to see the friend in the bar and basically says, he's abusing me.
You have to help me.
And he says something like, ah, sometimes he gets out of hand and you're like,
I mean, how, I don't know, how do you remedy that?
I mean, imagine somebody, I, what if I come to you, David, and I'm like, Charlie has been abusing me.
Like I come, like, you know, it's like unfathomable.
Would you sit there and say it's not my business?
It was sort of like a privacy shame factor, maybe.
Right.
But also the fact that it was a small town and maybe some of that still exists
exists in smaller communities, you know, where they don't have as many people to go to.
The people they go to are the ones who are a part of a party in some way.
